There are many ways you can help Denton State Supported Living Center and VOLUNTEERING is the most important!!!


How to Apply as a Volunteer at Denton State Supported Living Center

 

STEP 1: APPLICATION PROCESS
 
  • Go directly to http://www.dads.state.tx.us/volunteer/stateschools/index.html
  • Scroll down until you see “Application and Training”
  • Read the “Three Step Process” and follow.
  • The first step is the application – click on “DADS Volunteer Application” in step 1.
  • Fill out the application in its entirety; not just the *required items.
--- There is a spot that asks for “individual” or “group;” please select “individual”
--- Volunteer Interest area: select “state supported Living center” and then below put in
      “Denton”
  • Please make sure you type in your name at the end of the application! This will be your e-signature.
  • The next page you must complete and e-sign as well; submit the application. (The application will be sent to Austin who will forward back to DSSLC.)
  • Once app is submitted you will be brought to a blue Volunteer and Community Engagement page with two options: Long Term Services & Support OR State Supported Living Centers. Click on “State Supported Living Centers.” This will take you back to the original page you started on.
 
STEP 2: ONLINE ORIENTATION PROCESS
 
Scroll down to step 3 and read the instructions about DADS 101 Volunteer Training.
This is what you will see listed:  
 
 Web-based Training
 
• DADS 101
• Volunteer Orientation: Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
• Volunteer Orientation: Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation
• Volunteer Orientation: Emergency Response Training
• Volunteer Orientation: Infection Control
• Volunteer Orientation: Rights of Consumers  
 
You MUST complete each of the above modules in order to obtain a certificate of completion for the online training. Upon receipt of the certificate you will need to fill it out and print it. You will need to return this certificate to Volunteer Services at Denton State Supported Living Center.
 
STEP 3: HIPAA and Computer Usage Training
After your Web-based training session, please go to the bottom of the original page you started on. You will see the following:
 
• Computer Security Training
• Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
 
Again, you MUST complete each of the above modules in order to obtain a certificate of completion for the online training. Upon receipt of the certificate you will need to fill it out and print it. You will need to return this certificate to Volunteer Services at Denton State Supported Living Center.
